Training & Development Co-ordinator
Emily avidly believes that a great deal of learning happens outside the classroom as it is here where the learning is the strongest, but often the most engaging too. This is fuelled by her background working in Outdoor Education, as a Teaching Assistant and more recently, her extensive roles as Team Leader and Programme Leader with NCS. In all of these she has witnessed first-hand how young people, when actively engaged, can both personally and socially develop and at the same time gain independence and lifelong skills. By understanding individual background and behaviours Emily works to bring the best out of the adults and young people that she works with.
Emily effectively engaged with hundreds of young people whilst working with NCS, where her coaching ability, empathy and enthusiasm to overcome challenges made a real difference to their programme experience and the social action projects they worked on. She also nurtured many partnerships with charity and community organisations nationally as well as in and around Northamptonshire such as McMillan, The Stroke Association, Happy At Home and ACRE. This enhanced their profile with a younger audience, forged new ways of working, helped raise much needed funds and increased awareness of their cause.
